I have no weight to report this week because I’m scale-less and it’s driving me crazy! I feel as if I gained weight and even my brother mentioned that it looked like I had. THANKS BRO. YOU’RE. THE. BEST. I can’t wait until next Monday when I can get back to normalcy and my own kitchen. p.s. every muscle in my body is SO sore from skiing yesterday. But, it’s...

Top 10 of 2010
Inspired by @bananza I’ve decided to compile a list of my top ten favorite moments/things of 2010. This year has been absolutely phenomenal. Even though I feel that the most amazing year of my life can hardly be summed up in ten items, I’m going to try my best! (ten) learning to run - From my initial exhausting 20+ minute mile to a cool 8:28 PR and from barely jogging 30 seconds to...

Running: 15°F edition
Yeah you read right. I’m just THAT bad ass. Okay okay I do realize some of you live in where there are actual seasons. So this may not seem like such a big deal. But, for me this is pretty kick ass. Granted now I feel like a numb piece of poo. It was worth it!! Me and my Garmin are new best friends. :) OH AND I hiked up a huge steep mountain in knee-high fresh snow (no easy feat mind...

I'm cold damnit.
Okay so this is my first time to the snow since my weight loss and to be quite honest I have never been so cold in my entire LIFE. I even lived in Colorado for FIVE years and I was never this cold. I guess all that extra fluff really did keep me warmer on our past visits. So this is a good (albeit painfully freezing) thing. Lately I’ve been pretty cold all the time. Even when it’s...

My resting heart rate is 58.
Thank you Garmin Forerunner! What’s your resting heart rate? How to Measure Resting Heart Rate Measuring your resting heart rate is a very simple process. Remember, that early morning is the best time to measure your resting heart rate. Follow the steps given below to measure your resting heart rate. It's official! Half Marathon in 43 days!
First and foremost a very Merry Christmas Eve to all you Tumblonites. Hopefully your holidays are a tad less stressful than mine have been. Secondly, I just wanted to let you guys know that I have officially signed up for Huntington Beach’s Surf City USA Half Marathon on February 6, 2011. I’m nervous and excited and SO happy all at the same time. My step mom and I are officially...

Last week = 139.9 This week = 140.0 + 0.1 lbs this week. I know why my weigh in this morning is less than spectacular. It’s called sugar overload yesterday and a late night meal last night. Believe it or not I’ve been hitting 138s every morning this week. But anyways, tonight I plan on running and then having an early Christmas with my madre before she leaves for Colorado. This...

I ran a marathon this week.
That’s right folks, after tonight’s 5k (in 29:50 mind you), I can officially say that since Sunday I’ve run 26.2 miles. I can’t even begin to imagine doing it all in one day. The farthest  I ran this week was 6.2 miles in one day. I really need to up my distance running and work on pacing myself. But come on how awesome is it that I can say I ran a marathon this week? ...

I was having one of those crap-tastic days.
You know when nothing seems to go right. When everyone is pissing you off. When you have to clean up after other people’s messes. When you find yourself eating like shit for no good reason. When the people who you rely on fall through. One of those days. Then, on a whim, I ran four miles tonight (albeit it on the treadmill with incline thank you very much!) in 37:40 and all seemed right...

Two weeks ago = 143.5 This week = 139.9 - 3.6 lbs in two weeks. You have no idea the shriek of joy I let out when I saw that I was on the threshold of officially being in the 130s. Albeit I’m barely teetering into the 130s. It does mean I’m on my way there! Take that you miserable almost two month plateau. But, even with this exciting weigh in, I got depressing news from the...

5 miles. 48:37. Incline.
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it. :) It’s amazing to me that in the past three days I’ve run 13.2 miles. That’s a half marathon and then some. Just saying. Now if only I could do that all in one day…

Make Room for Santa 10K
After a few late starts and rushed beginnings I have officially completed my second 10K. My bestie and I kept the same pace the entire time. We started and finished together which was great so we could push each other. Then we got to go back and cheer my mom at the finish line. :) Holy crap though. This was a hard one for me! I felt so drained just at the 2 mile marker. The route was basically...

My splendid morning.
So I’ve spent the entire morning in urgent care due to an extremely painful swelling in my ear. Now with some fantastic pain meds and lots of antibiotics I’m trudging off to work. :( Even though I feel as if I want to cut my own ear off, I will be running my second 10K tomorow monring bright and early! But, maybe without music. The last thing I want right now are headphones on. OH...

¡My 1,000th post!
I guess it’s supposed to be this extraordinary, awe-inspiring post that will touch the heart of thousands. Or maybe a post to reflect on some life-changing event, unattainable aspiration, or epic realization. (Too dramatic? Maybe.) But, to be honest, this post is just. like. any. other. post. It’s an ass-kicking, hey guess what? I woke up early and ran 2.25 miles this morning. AND...

When random experimenting turns to GOLD
Tonight I made spaghetti squash. My sauce was a tomato basil pasta sauce from Sun Harvest at a bee-yoo-ti-ful 50 calories per 1/2 cup. My veggies were zucchini, yellow squash, and mushroom. Here’s where the awesome part comes in. I was simmering my veggies before putting them in the sauce like I normally do. Usually I cut up my veggies, pop them into a pan and sautee/grill them with...

I’m officially skipping WIW this week because the fact is I absolutely hate that effing scale right now and I can’t bring myself to weigh in. So here’s the dealio for the next week or so, I’m back to calorie counting.Nothing obsessive, but I think shrugging off that extra latte and those couple french twists is definitely NOT helping. 1400 calories a day for me. Cut back...

When I can't run outside
I run on the treadmill. Lately I’ve been hearing a lot of people telling me I should run on incline to make it more like running outside. Last night, however, I did a 5k on incline 2 and low and behold KNEE PAIN. Baby steps, Madelynn. Baby steps.

During my internship today
I got to sit in with this amazing Dietician/Nutritionist while she followed up on a patient. Then we got to talking and she is absolutely AH-MAZING. She’s done 15 full marathons, two iron mans, countless 5ks, 10ks, half marathons, trail runs, mountain bike races AND she runs about 30 to 45 miles a week. She is incredibly fit and I want. to. be. just. like. her. Oh and guess what? She...

Goals for December
First things first, I will lose 5 pounds this month. It has to be done. I HAVE to be in the 130s. I just have to. Run baby run - run a 10K in under an hour(?) Try snowboarding Come in on budget with the holiday shopping Keep my room clean Try a different class besides spin. Break outside of your bubble. More strength training.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… ...

Goals for November: Updated
I started November 1st weighing in at 144.3 lbs. This morning I weighed in at 143.5 for a pathetic -0.8 lbs lost for the entire month of November. Really there is no excuse. Lose 6 pounds this month, I need to be more realistic with myself as I have less weight to lose. But I will be in the 130s damnit.  - Ugh, my weight loss goal was completely thrown out the window this month. Run my first...

Last week = 142.4 This week = 143.5 +1.1 lbs this week. Okay not as horrendous as I was expecting. I mean I legitimately have been seeing 146 to 148 the past week and I was getting pretty damn frustrated. Now that I’m relatively back on track I’m hoping I can continue to keep losing. This month has been pretty pathetic in the weight loss department, but damn awesome in the...
